The 24th Annual Washington, DC International Film Festival (Filmfest DC) commences April 15 and continues through April 25, bringing the best in new international cinema to the nation””s capital. Filmfest DC features over 80 films from around the world including World Premieres, DC Premieres, Official Foreign Language Film Oscar Selections and international headliners and award winners. The festival also boasts over 20 international guests set to present and discuss their films including well-known directors and producers.

The 24th Annual Washington, DC International Film Festival (Filmfest DC) commences April 15 and continues through April 25, bringing the best in new international cinema to the nation””s capital. Filmfest DC features over 80 films from around the world including World Premieres, DC Premieres, Official Foreign Language Film Oscar Selections and international headliners and award winners. The festival also boasts over 20 international guests set to present and discuss their films including well-known directors and producers.

For 2010, Filmfest DC has two regional areas of focus: Bel Cinema!, a selection of new Italian films; and The New Romanian Wave, a program of cutting edge work from one of the hottest spots on the international cinema scene.

Filmfest DC and Master of Ceremonies, the multi-Emmy® Award winner and beloved WJLA entertainment reporter, Arch Campbell, will host the Opening Night screening of the Niki®-award winning Russian film HIPSTERS, from director Valery Todorovsky. A reception in the Gallerie with live music, dancing, food and Champagne follows the screening.

As their Closing Night feature, Filmfest DC presents the Washington, DC premiere of Germany””s award-winning comedy from director Fatih Akin (THE EDGE OF HEAVEN) and Venice Film Festival favorite, SOUL KITCHEN, on Sunday, April 25, 4:00 PM at Regal Cinema Gallery Place. The screening is followed by a Closing Night Party sponsored by Stella Artois at Bar Louis, also at Gallery Place.

The 6th annual Privateer Day is set for April 9-10, 2010. Each year this festival with events for pirates of all ages gets bigger and bigger, and the Privateer Day Festival in Fells Point 2010 promises to be a blast. Many participants delight in dressing up like pirates.

Tyagaraja(May 4, 1767 – Jan 6, 1847) was one of the greatest composers of Carnatic music or classical South Indian music. His full name is Kakarla Tyaga Brahmam.

Swararnava Fine Arts is mainly to promote and teach Indian Carnatic Classical Music in a traditional way to all our Indian community in and around USA.

Ustad Hamid Hossain was born in a musical family in Murshidabad, West Bengal, India.

The 6th annual Privateer Day is set for April 9-10, 2010. Each year this festival with events for pirates of all ages gets bigger and bigger, and the Privateer Day Festival in Fells Point 2010 promises to be a blast. Many participants delight in dressing up like pirates.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual two-week event that celebrates springtime in Washington, DC as well as the 1912 gift of the cherry blossom trees and the enduring friendship between the people of the US and Japan.

The Target Performance Stage plays host to a wide range of performances, from Japanese culture groups to local acoustic musicians. Sylvan Theatre is on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

The Freer and Sackler Galleries, in partnership with Otakorp, Inc., and the DC Anime Club, will host a cosplay (short for “costume play”) contest as part of the anime marathon. The contest is open to individuals or groups. The first twenty individuals or groups who respond will be accepted.
