  • Baltimore Book Festival, Baltimore, MD, US – Pictures – Upcoming Video

    The Baltimore Book Festival features hundreds of author appearances and book signings, 100 exhibitors and booksellers, non-stop readings on multiple stages, cooking demos by celebrity chefs, poetry readings and workshops, panel discussions, walking tours, storytellers and hands-on projects for kids, street theater, live music, and a delicious variety of food, beer and wine.

    The Baltimore Book Festival takes place rain or shine. Most activities take place under tents.

    Highlights include Terry McMillan, Getting to Happy; Laura Lippman, The Most Dangerous Thing; Tavis Smiley, Fail Up: 20 Lessons on Building Success from Failure; Roland S. Leo Patalinghug, Grace Before Meals; . . .

    The Literary Salon, presented by Bank of America hosts renowned authors, book signings, readings and panel discussions. On Friday at noon, festival-goers can sample great performing arts during the Free Fall Baltimore Preview. The excitement continues in the evening with Ladies Night Out from 5-8pm, including panels on love and relationships and FREE wine from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly.

It will be part of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series schedule and the 2011 American Le Mans Series schedule. The weekend event features world-class motorsports competition from several racing series, culminating in Sunday’s IZOD IndyCar Series race. In addition to the high-speed thrills of professional racing, a wide variety of entertainment and activities will be scheduled for people of all ages to create an exciting three days of speed and entertainment.

    The Baltimore Grand Prix is a spectacular three-day “festival of speed” in downtown Baltimore, taking place September 2-4, 2011. It will be part of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series schedule and the 2011 American Le Mans Series schedule. The weekend event features world-class motorsports competition from several racing series, culminating in Sunday’s IZOD IndyCar Series race. In addition to the high-speed thrills of professional racing, a wide variety of entertainment and activities will be scheduled for people of all ages to create an exciting three days of speed and entertainment.

    The racetrack is a two-mile temporary street circuit in and around the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards, including sections of Russell Street, West Pratt Street from Paca Street to Light Street, along the Inner Harbor on Light Street, and up Conway towards the stadium. Although the race will be held on actual city streets, for one weekend this urban environment will be transformed into a world class racetrack with the best possible safety equipment and fan facilities.

    The proposed racetrack will be two miles and the IZOD IndyCar Series race would take approximately two hours to complete. Because it is a timed race, the number of laps and race distance will vary, but IZOD IndyCar Series race is expected to be between 80 and 100 laps, which would equate to 160 to 200 miles.

    The paddock is the garage area for racing teams and cars. This is the best place to get up close and personal with the cars, the drivers, and the race teams as they prepare themselves for the race.

    There are two main paddock areas. The IZOD IndyCar Series paddock and the Firestone Indy Lights paddocks are in the convention center. You must purchase a separate paddock ticket to enter this area.

    The American Le Mans Series paddock is in Oriole park Lot A and does not require a separate paddock ticket. The F2000 and Star Mazda paddocks will also be open to all ticket holders and will not require a separate pass.

    In addition, live music will be available all weekend, including local artists performing throughout the day and major acts in the evenings. Fans will also enjoy visiting the Paddocks to see the race teams work behind the scenes, and taking in a wide variety of entertainment options in the Action Sports Zone, Party Zone, and the Family Fun Zone. The entire race area will be a lively festival packed with exciting attractions, interactive exhibits, and great food and beverage options.

  • White Marsh, MD, US – Pictures – Upcoming Video

    In 1965, the largely undeveloped northeast corridor was identified by Baltimore County as the preferred site for intensive development. A town center was proposed to be located west of Belair Road at the planned intersection of White Marsh and Walther Boulevards.

    From 1972-1981, the planning and development of the White Marsh Mall occurred, with the Rouse Company as owner and developer on land rented from Nottingham. In July 1973, Sears committed as an anchor store. In 1981, most stores opened. In 1992, Hecht’s replaced Hutzler’s. The White Marsh Mall one of the largest regional malls in the Baltimore area, with five anchor stores and 190 specialty shops in about 1.4 million square feet (130,000 m2). Next to the mall’s property is IKEA. This location was the third and currently oldest IKEA store in the United States (1988). The IKEA store is still there today.

    Exhibitors filled the spacious Cow Palace with thousands of products and services for pets. Some of the country’s foremost authorities in the pet industry presented seminars and demonstrations covering practically every aspect of pet care and training.

    Pets covered in these seminars include dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, ferrets and other animals.

    In addition to the shopping extravaganza and the seminar series, there is continuous entertainment and demonstrations by nationally known pet organizations, interactive and educational presentations where children may handle live animals, a Parade of Breeds, a Petting Zoo and many others.
