  • The Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival, Baltimore, MD, US – Video

    Parade Director Laure Drogoul coordinates our shimmering spectacle! Dragon lanterns glow on the parks Boat Lake, video projections light up the DiPietro Ice Rink bubble in the park, artist installations and performances throughout the Parade Route.

    Raya Brass Band, Marching bands, Fluid Movement, Stilters and more keep your feet moving! All are welcome to dress in costume, make lanterns from repurposed plastic bottles, and carry them in the Parade. Or… watch from anywhere along the route!

    Help us collect water bottles by dropping off your empty ones at the Creative Alliance. Special thanks to Best Battery Company. Sat Oct 27. 3:30pm Festival. 7pm Parade Line up. 7:30pm Parade. Pulaski Monument, Eastern and Linwood Aves, Patterson Park. 3:30pm Festival, 7pm Parade! FREE!

    Patterson Park is one of the oldest parks in Baltimore, spanning 300 years of the citys spirited history.

    The first known resident of what is now Patterson Park was Quinton Parker in 1669. At that time, it was possible to navigate a small boat up Harris Creek from the Patapsco River right into Patterson Park.

    On Hampstead Hill, the ridge where the Pagoda now stands, Baltimoreans rallied on September 12, 1814 to protect the city from the threat of a British invasion.

  • The Halloween Costume Contest and Dog Festival, Baltimore, MD, US – Video

    This event will once again become a Halloween tradition for Baltimore area dog lovers. The event, produced by the Can Company, features more than 100 dogs (with their owners), dressed creatively in costumes, competing in the following categories: Most Original, Most Baltimorean, Matching Dog/Human, and Best Last Minute. Local on-air personality, Jon Bouesche, will DJ and emcee the event.

    Phantasmic Creatures of Earthly Delight celebrates imaginary creatures and mythological beasts inspired by our very own Patterson Park. The day kicks off with a Free Festival w/ Manly Deed, hay rides, lantern workshops, costume contest, food trucks and more!

    Help create the Giant Afterschool Light Bulb, an interactive light sculpture awarded to Creative Alliance by Afterschool Alliances Lights on Afterschool Program.

    Patterson Park boasts:

    * Almost three miles of paved paths for running, walking and biking,
    * Ten tennis courts, located along Linwood Avenue between Baltimore Street and Eastern Avenue,
    * 4 full basketball courts, located near the pool;
    * A swimming pool, open to the public between early June and late August;
    * An ice skating rink opens from October through March for hockey, broomball and public ice-skating; and
    * Many multi-use playing fields
    * The Pagoda, originally known as the Observatory, was designed in 1890 by Charles H. Latrobe, then Superintendent of Parks.
