Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco and SOMD Athlete Rosa Marcellino, who recently had national legislation passed in her name banning the ‘R-word’, will serve as Co-Chairman. Before and after your big Plunge, they invite you to chill out in the heated festival tent, featuring fan favorites like Sandtastic’s impressive sand sculpture, the Astro Events Family Fun Zone, great food and drinks, local and national vendors, and a variety of local entertainment acts and attractions including ArtCars, caricature artists and roving entertainers from About Faces Entertainment (stilt walkers, balloon sculpting magician, clowns and a mime.)

The Super Plunge Team will take not one, not two but 24 chilly dips into the the Chesapeake Bay over a 24-hour period. The Super Plunge Team welcomes spectators, so friends and family are encouraged to check out the icy action during park visiting hours. Sandy Point is open to the public until 5pm on Friday, Jan. 28 and will reopen at 8am on Saturday, Jan. 29.

Everyone can enjoy the 2,413 acres park which comprises of 6.5 miles of ocean beach frontage and a half mile of bay frontage developed for still water bathing. It is popular for its excellent beaches with 10 km in length facing to the Atlantic Ocean and furnishes one of the most popular summer recreational locations in the New York City area.
Robert Moses State Park has about five miles of ocean beach from which visitors can swim, surf or surf-fish. Anglers can also fish from piers. A day-use boat basin can accommodate 40 boats. The park also has picnic areas and the 18-hole Robert Moses State Park Pitch & Putt Golf Course.

Heckscher State Park has more than a million visitors a year. Twenty miles of trails attract hikers, bicycle and cross-country skiers. Swimmers can use the Great South Bay or the swimming pool complex. There are picnic areas, a boat launch ramp, playing fields, playground and 69 camp sites.

Remember that swimming and wading in the Potomac are prohibited. Use caution while hiking near the river and cliffs.
The Visitor Center is open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. A ten minute video presentation on the history of Great Falls Park is shown throughout the day.
