The largest festival of its kind in California, The Annual Northern California Pirate Festival features streets and stages teaming with colorful sea folk from British Naval Officers to Swimming Mermaids, marauding pirate encampments, black powder canons, unique shopping and a dedicated childrens area with a 30 foot slide, Childrens Schoole of Piracy, treasure hunts and costume contests.

Golden State Warriors Championship Parade and Rally Crowd, Oakland, CA, USA
The Golden State Warriors and the City of Oakland hosted a parade and rally to honor the 2014-15 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors on Friday, June 19, 2015, 10:00 a.m. The parade started on Broadway at 11th Street, turned right on Grand Avenue, and right on Harrison to Lakeside Drive, ending on Oak and proceeding to the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center for the Rally.
Fans lined up along the parade route as early as 5 a.m. Public transportation swelled to capacity to carry the thousands of fans to the Lake Merritt area stretching the the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center, where the route ends.
About 1 million people attended the parade and rally.

This FREE event is a fabulous family fun activity to either participate in or just come down to watch all of the action. The Contest is co-sponsored by the Bayview Womens Club, East Bay Regional Park District, Alameda Youth Committee, and ARPD.

The San Leandro Cherry Festival is a long-standing San Leandro tradition celebrating their past, present and future! The first Cherry Festival was held in 1909. Many things have changed over the years but one thing that remains the same is the strong sense of community identity and pride the Cherry Festival brings to the San Leandro community!
Over 10,000 people attend the Cherry Festival to partake in food, a beer garden, live entertainment, handmade arts and crafts, a special Kids Zone with rides and games, parade, Farmers Market with lots of cherries, community and City resources, and a cherry store selling everything cherry!

Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival Grand Parade, San Francisco, CA, USA
The parade began at the Civic Center at 1:00 p.m., proceeded up Polk to Post Street, and ended in Japantown. A number of performers from Japan also graced us with their presence. Japanese classical (Buyo) and folk dance (Minyo) groups representing the Bay Area performed throughout the parade route like a myriad of floating butterflies.
Highly honored Boy Scout Troops from the Japanese American communities marched proudly along the streets. Streams of colorful floats carried by young women representing Japanese American and other Asian American communities.
World renowned San Francisco Taiko Dojo kept the parade upbeat with the thundering sound of the taiko, and this years Queen and her Court cascaded their way to Japantown.

Anchoring the parade was the exciting Taru Mikoshi, that hoisted by over one hundred strong individuals from throughout the Bay Area. It was a spectacle not to be missed.
The Grand Marshal for 2015 is Ambassador John V Roos. John was the US Ambassador to Japan from August 2009 – August 2013.
