  • Star-Spangled Sailabration – Free Visiting Ship Tour, Baltimore, MD, US – Pictures – Upcoming Video

    Star-Spangled Sailabration will feature more than 40 U.S., British, Canadian, Dominican, Danish, German, Japanese and Norwegian naval vessels and tall ships from around the globe. The ships will be open June 14 -18 for public visitation. Ships berthed at the Inner Harbor and Fells Point are generally open for touring from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and naval vessels at North Locust Point will be open for tours from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

    The only way to access the naval vessels at North Locust Point is to board the free, secured shuttle buses from M∧T Bank Stadium Lots G and H where security checks are mandatory.

  • Star-Spangled Sailabration – USS Fort McHenry, Baltimore, MD, US – Pictures – Upcoming Video

    Tour a Naval Vessel – June 14, 8 to 8:45 a.m. Get full access of a U.S. naval vessel and interview the ships captain and crew.

    The USS Fort McHenry is the third Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship. She was named for Fort McHenry, in Baltimore, Maryland, the 1814 defense of which inspired “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

    * Attendees will meet at the NOSC Baltimore(1201 Halsey Road).
    * A secured shuttle will take you to the Port of Baltimore and back to your car at the NOSC once the tour is over.
    * The ship tour should take no longer than 1 and 1/2 hour.

    Star-Spangled 200, Inc. is the not-for-profit entity that supports the fundraising goals of the Maryland War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission. Established in September 2010, Star-Spangled 200, Inc. is charged with educating the public through celebration and commemoration of the historical events of the War of 1812 by supporting the charitable and educational activities of the Maryland War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission.

    The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum(1990) is a private, non-profit, corporation. The Museums purpose is to maintain an educational institution dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and documentation of aviation and space history in Maryland, namely, the contributions of Glenn L. Martin and his successful company.

    Operated by dedicated volunteers, the Museum is active in the cultural life of surrounding communities and has begun to extend its activities state-wide. The Museum is certified by the U.S. Navy and Army. All funds required for the acquisition, restoration, maintenance, and display of museum material are derived from individual and corporate donations. Members of the Museum share a desire to preserve aviation history and we welcome all those who share the same interests.

    Embark the USS San Antonio – June 13, 10:30 a.m. Take a Navy helicopter ride from Martin State Airport and land on the USS San Antonio, the lead ship of her class of amphibious transport dock or landing platform dock, which was designed to deliver up to 800 Marines ashore by landing craft or helicopters. Tour the ship and interview the ships captain and crew before docking at North Locust Point. Once docked, shuttled back to Martin State Airport(eight-hour commitment).

    The USS San Antonio is the first amphibious transport dock of the 12-ship San Antonio class. She is used to transport and land Marines, their equipment and supplies by embarked air cushion or conventional landing craft or Expeditionary Fighting Vehicles, augmented by helicopters or vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. She will support amphibious assault, special ops or expeditionary warfare missions through the first half of the 21st century.

    The Festival is hosted by Meridian International Center and THIS for Diplomats, in partnership with Cultural Tourism DC and the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Now in its sixth(6) year, the new Ronald Reagan Building venue provides additional capacity, Metro access, and brings the event downtown just steps away from the White House and National Mall.

    A highlight of Meridians educational outreach program, the Festival provides vital and unique programming -free of charge- to children and their parents.

  • FlowerMart at Washington Monument, Baltimore, MD, US – Video

    This years FlowerMart will see local talent from the Peabody Institute and from around the state. The entertainment consists of singers (groups and soloists), bands (The Objections, One More Time, Archbishop Curley High School jazz band), a comedy hypnotist at 1PM on Friday, two magicians on Friday at 4PM, dancing (line, Irish, flamenco) and a musical performance by FlowerMart Entertainment Chairman Gene Vincentt on Saturday at 1:30, who will bring some of his friends to sing and play along with him.

    FlowerMart will take place in its traditional location of the parks of Mt. Vernon around the Washington Monument on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 11am – 8pm and Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 11am – 8pm.

    Free to all is Baltimores rite of spring. The festival features 130 + vendors selling flowers, garden accessories and unique gifts just in time for Mothers Day. Plus FlowerMart attracts non-profit organizations who want to publicize their missions. Wellness vendors, government vendors and Archdiocese schools round out the mix.
