    The City of Fremont Parks and Recreation Department is holding its annual Kids n Kites Festival on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    The festival, presented by Dale Hardware and Washington Township Medical Foundation, is located within Central Park, next to Aqua Adventure Waterpark.

    The festival is free to the public and included free kites to the first 3,000 children in attendance.
    There is live entertainment on the main stage, interactive booths highlighting summer activities, play area for the kids, food, and more. The festival has something fun for everyone!

    On the same day, Aqua Adventure offered a Pre-season Splash (weather permitting) from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a special one-time entrance price of $6 per person, along with concessions specials. The Waterpark will officially open for business on Saturday, May 21. Both events are guaranteed to be great fun for the entire family!

    One of the three national holidays in India, Republic Day commemorates the Constitution of India, which came into effect on January 26, 1950.
    The holiday is celebrated in the national capital, New Delhi, with a parade in the presence of Indias President. The Prime Minister also lays a floral wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti memorial in remembrance of fallen soldiers.

    Showcasing and exhibition of culture, creativity, reflections and traditions are the hallmarks of Grand Parade. Aug 16th at 12pm.

    This year, celebrities from Hollywood, Bollywood and rest of the Globe will be Grand Marshals riding more than 100 open cars along with over 50 colorful floats.

    Festival of Globe is the San Francisco Bay Areas premier multi ethnic cross culture extravaganza. Aug 16th at 12pm.

    The Federation of Indian Associations is a Fremont based umbrella organization. It consists of over 40 member organizations.

    On July 4, Independence Day, thousands of people watched the star spangled excitement of creative floats, specialty units, marching musical units and guest celebrities! This patriotic parade started at 10:00 a.m. sharp and completed in two hours to pass spectators along a one-mile route from the Library to Fremonts developing Downtown District featuring a differnet business district every year.

    In 1999, the City of Fremont began hosting an annual 4th of July Parade in each of the original five historic township areas that came together in 1956 to form the – City of Fremont. In 2001, budget cutbacks forced the City to step aside in the funding and organization of these annual parades; but the citizens and greater Fremont area volunteers came together to keep the tradition going. The parade now rotates between five of the famous districts of Fremont.

    ROUTE: The parade route starts at Library on Stevenson and heads north up Paseo Padre and turning left onto Liberty Street, and ends at State Street.

    A Ratha-Yatra or Roth Jatra or Chariot Festival is a Hindu festival that involves transporting deities on a chariot (called a ratha or roth). The festival originated in Puri in the State of Orissa. The rath(chariot) is carrying Lord Jaggannath and due to its massive size and weight and sometimes seeminlgy unstoppable nature.

    The Ratha Yatra festival has become a common sight in most major cities of the world since 1968 through the ISKCON Hare Krishna movement.

    Central Park and Lake Elizabeth began development in 1960. The Lake was dedicated to Fremonts Sister City, Elizabeth, Australia, on March 22, 1969. The Park is set on 450 acres with an 83-acre lake.

    Central Park and Lake Elizabeth was named the best park of the Tri-Cities area by the Argus newspaper for 2004.
