    San Diego Zoo Global is a not-for-profit organization that operates the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research.

    In 1916 Dr. Harry Wegeforth heard the roar of a lion left over from a Worlds Fair in San Diego. At that moment, the prominent physician decided a zoo was needed in San Diego. Open 365 days a year, the San Diego Zoo welcomes San Diego families as well as visitors from around the world.

    The 100-acre (40-hectare) Zoo is home to over 3,700 rare and endangered animals representing more than 668 species and subspecies, and a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 exotic plants. It is located just north of downtown San Diego in Balboa Park.

    Border Field State Park is on the very southwestern corner of the US and 15 miles south of San Diego. Border Field is located within the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, an important wildlife habitat. The sand dunes and salt marshes give refuge to critically threatened and endangered birds such as the Western Snowy Plover, the California Least Tern, and the Light-footed Clapper Rail.

    The park provides restrooms, picnic areas, barbecues, horse corrals, and interpretive displays. Visitors enjoy beach combing, hiking, horseback riding, and bird watching.

    Border Monument number 258 can be viewed from Monument Mesa, however there is no close access because it is now behind two border fences.

    Tijuana is the dominant focal city of Northwestern Mexico, in Baja California, Mexico and right across the border from San Diego, California, USA.

They have brochures, maps and discounted tickets to many area attractions and tours. Head over to the North Embarcadero area of the waterfront and look for their exquisite building – you cant miss it; it is the only one of its kind in the area, totally transparent and embellished with colorful glass thats reminiscent of the hues of the San Diego Bay.     A wide, mile-long beach with soft sand, clean water and gentle waves, La Jolla Shores is an ideal spot for families, sunbathers and beginner surfers.

    The beach is cozy and comfortable, with a playground and grassy picnic areas at the adjacent Kellogg Park. It is consistently ranked as one of the best family beaches in the US.

    The beach offers a large parking lot and free parking on nearby residential streets. Also accessible by public transportation. Swimming, surfing and scuba diving are allowed. Lifeguards are staffed year-round from 9:00a.m. to dusk.
    This beach has bathrooms and showers, fire pits and volleyball courts. La Jolla Shores has the only beachfront boat launch within San Diego.

    Longest Walk 5 So Cal beginning meeting was held here on that same day. Longest Walk 5 is a War on Drugs and Domestic Violence.

    Shri Saibaba of Shirdi lived between 1838 and 1918, whose real name, birthplace and date of birth are not known. An Indian spiritual guru and a fakir , Saibaba of Shirdi was regarded with great reverence by both Hindu and Muslim followers. He lived in a mosque and after death his body was cremated in a temple. Both temples are next to each other.

    Climbing out of his boat and onto shore in 1542, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo stepped into history as the first European to set foot on what is now the West Coast of the US. In addition to telling the story of 16th century exploration, the park is home to a wealth of cultural and natural resources. Cabrillo National Monument lies at the tip of the Point Loma Peninsula, just west of the city of San Diego.

    The low tide time if you wish to explore the tidepools. The Visitor Center is a good place to start your exploration of the park. A short walk leads to the Old Point Loma Lighthouse.

    A little south of the Lighthouse is the Whale Overlook. This vantage point offers pleasant views of the Pacific Ocean and the New Point Loma Lighthouse. Whales are often seen from here in January and February.

    On the west side of the park, accessible by car only, is a beautiful coastal area. Birding is popular year round, and during extreme low tides visitors enjoy exploring the intertidal zone.
