Historic Rail Fair by SPCRR at Ardenwood Historic Farm, Fremont, CA, USA – Pictures
Railfair 2016 was held over Labor Day weekend and featured -Ann-Marie- an 1890 Porter 0-4-0T steam engine as well as model railroads, speeder rides, antique farm equipment, and other activities. Over 7,500 visitors attended (along with several hundred exhibitors) and over 8,000 visitors rode the steam train and speeder (some people rode more than once!). (more solid numbers will be available soon.)
The annual Haunted Train is scheduled for the nights of the last two weekends in October.
Today the SPCRR is the Society for the Preservation of Carter Railroad Resources, a non-profit corporation operating the Railroad Museum at Ardenwood Historic Farm Regional Park in Fremont, California close to the original Carter Shops in Newark.

The Japanese Gardens is open daily from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., except Christmas Day.
On the first Saturday of the month at 1:00 p.m. at the Japanese Gardens, the designer of the Japanese Gardens, Kimio Kimura of Kimurascaping, lectures on how to design, construct, manage, and appreciate a dynamic art where the garden is complimenting the structure to create a harmonious relationship.
The Japanese Garden wedding sites available for rent during daylight hours for weddings March through August. The Japanese Garden is located right next to the Hayward Senior Center on North Third Street at Crescent in Hayward.
Visited the 27th annual King Tut Festival, where you find instantly transported back in time to see a village of Egyptians making handmade food, playing live music, creating hand-made items and displaying a bazaar with one of a kind imported items – all for you! There was fun for the kids too with face-panting, bounce houses and more. There is authentic, affordable fun for the whole family, and best of all, admission is free!

Joined them on Sunday, August 21, 2016 10am-4pm at the Santa Clara Convention Center for their seventh annual public expo of LEGO models!
There were two large ballrooms – One filled with amazing custom LEGO models, and the other full of vendors selling something for everyone!
Games were played, prizes were won, Paul Lee amused us all, Dan Parker impressed us, David Calkins taught us and hundreds of creative and artistic LEGO creations amazed us.

Rolling green lawns and colorful showy blooms highlight the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden. In fact, hardly a day passes when some species is not in full bloom, with more than 3,500 plantings and 189 varieties featured.
San Joses 5 1/2–acre Municipal Rose Garden – a one-time prune orchard – is today one of the most attractive of its kind in the world, drawing thousands of visitors each year. The garden is exclusively devoted to shrubs of the rose family and features over 4,000 rose shrubs with 189 varieties represented. Hybrid–teas comprise 75% of the plantings. These shrubs are characterized by a single high centered bloom per stem.
Visitors to the Garden can also expect to see floribundas, which have clusters of blooms per stem; grandifloras, which are taller than hybrid-teas and feature both clusters and single bloom stems; miniature roses; climbers, a rose variety that sends out long canes, which are trained up onto the fences surrounding the Garden; and polyanthas, low growing rose shrubs with clusters of small flowers.
Visitors can enjoy colorful, showy blooms throughout the April to November season. A favorite time to visit though is early May when the acres of fragrant, majestic roses are at their most beautiful stage.

Gilroy Garlic Festival at Christmas Hill Park, Gilroy, CA, USA – Pictures
Burnin and Lootin smoked the competition to win Overall Grand Champ in the first-ever Gilroy Garli-Que BBQ Challenge on Saturday, July 30, at the 2016 Gilroy Garlic Festival. Smokey Luv BBQ was named Reserve Champ.
Contestants in the Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) sanctioned event competed in five categories (Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder, Beef Brisket, and Anything with Garlic), which were evaluated by a panel of KCBS judges. Festival guests who sampled the BBQ fare also voted to determine the Peoples Choice award for each category.
